Sound activation happens automatically using AUX connectivity, and you can use DVS-OUT or even the headphone jack to control volume levels. Even if you’re not using a mixer or a sequencer, the X1:K1 is a versatile choice.
From the start, the Xone:K1 ships fully assembled and ready to use. Further, I picked up the X1:K1 with its original Denon Alpha power supply instead of the bundled offering, which comes with a SkyMaster VM+ power supply. This will save you some additional money and is worth every penny for the extra power that you get. The Denon Alpha is brand new with warranty, and because it is not a “black box” hardware mixer, this is less likely to be the reason for any problems that you may encounter.
Measurement comes in the form of dual identical, 15″ display screens with a combined resolution of 800x200. A DisplayPorts 1.1 and a USB 3.0 port are provided so you can integrate the main unit with your current setup. This, when supplemented with a Thunderbolt 3 interface for the SDJ / S8 via USB-C 3.0 port. The USB-C port even supports video output.
At some point in your home studio, you’ll need to step up to USB-C and if you have the Denon A1 then this is a no-brainer. I have been enjoying the Denon A1 for years now with USB-C. The X1:K1 is a great for an upgrade, or if you’re starting out again.
Version 2018.12.17 is now available. It brings the new VST/AU interface we've been waiting for. A new bundled tool is also included, that contains a custom VST Plugin Factory and a specially designed VJ Controller (Traktor S2 Mk3).
The Virtual DJ Traktor S2 support is a step in the right direction of the more traditional DJ controllers like the Traktor S2. However, it is still a significant leap from the Virtual DJ 3 host. The inclusion of the VST API is a most welcome step.
I think the S2 offers a great value for the money, and combining with the Cubase AI i am very excited for the future. I strongly feel that virtual DJ should have a better focus on price, and ideally all features should be available in versions more than £30. This will generate much more people to use virtual DJ. d2c66b5586
